A: Funding is granted on an annual basis in amounts of $5,000, $10,000, $15,000, $20,000 or $25,000 as recommended by their assessment committee.
Q: What are applicant companies judged on?
A: Judges look at the previous two years' worth of production and what the company plans to do in the future. I believe we can impress them with our record here. The amount of the grant is based on the selection of authors we have, our editorial choices and the quality of writing and editing. They also look at page and cover design, printing quality and the quality of marketing and distribution.
Q: Do we meet the criteria for the grant?
A: I do believe we meet the criteria for qualifying for the Emerging Publisher Grant. The recommended amount of the grant is based on an assessment of the merit of a house's production, its professionalism and the recent and projected title output. As we excel in all these areas, we should qualify for a healthy grant.
