The marketing that they do includes flyer campaigns, in-store specials and displays and presentations designed to build interest and excitement about a product.

The sales that a food broker makes are the direct result of their marketing efforts and the demand for a product by consumers. That means the food broker needs to keep up with statistics and growth trends in the industry.

There is a lot of travel involved in this career. Most food brokers are responsible for a specific area or territory. It can be anywhere from a few counties wide to nationwide. In some cases, it's international.

Most food brokers work from an office. But much of their time is spent meeting with buyers and purchasing agents outside of their office. For this reason, some food brokerage companies include a company car as part of the compensation package that they offer.
